Amazing news! The Gulf World Marine Institute (GWMI), one of Florida’s most reliable marine life rehabilitation facilities, received 16 baby sea turtles on March 8, 2021.
The turtles were brought from the Volusia County Marine Science Center in Ponce De Leon and the Sea Turtle Hospital at the Whitney Lab in St. Augustine.
Sea turtle populations have struggled to grow in recent years. From plastic pollution to illegal poaching, it can be hard to maintain one of Mother Nature’s most precious sea creatures. This is why humans are taking special precautions to preserve the sea turtle population.
You can learn practical ways to save the sea turtle population in Ekele Media‘s forthcoming children’s book Chelly and Renee: Journey to the Heart of the Sea! Be on the lookout for the book’s release on Amazon very soon!
